Sacred Hong Kong

Rethinking religious landscapes and heritage visualisation.

Sacred Hong Kong

Hong Kong keeps its sacred places in odd corners: a Baptist church on the thirty-ninth floor, a Daoist altar on the twenty-first, a Hindu temple above a shop. The Online Spiritual Atlas of the Global East counted 2,657 such places in 2022. Here you can follow them by floor, by shoreline, by deity and by street, and set the atlas beside the temple register, heritage lists, old maps and the census to see what each one records and what it leaves out.
